Good news and some bad news.

Hello everyone,

It was great to have Dr. Kevin come and share interesting information about how ADD and ADD/HD is a gift, and helped us understand how the gift can be managed in many ways; nutrition being one of those ways.  Look on the blog, healthyfoodsconnection.blogspot.com, for
Information on Dr. Kevin and how he can be contacted, he could possibly be the person who could help your children or grandchildren!

Well, I have some ........which do you want first?  ha ha
I am discontinuing the raw food potlucks, that is the bad news, I may consider starting them up again in the fall that is the good news!  We will no longer be able to hold the luncheons at The Coventry, as they are converting the whole downstairs into housing.

Medicinal Herb Class Series in West Jordan,UT

Medicinal Herb Class Series

Don't miss this event. Emily is planning for my herbal classes again this year!  And in a recent email she mentioned, I cap the class at 25 just because we 'make and take' and there is a lot of prep work and limited space. I require payment upfront because a lot of that prep work takes up to 6 weeks before hand and I need to gather supplies quickly. I understand some of you may be out of town for some of these weekends, you don't have to sign up for all of them to participate. I planned for this time because we don't go out of town during my husband's peak landscape season and there are wonderful herbs to choose from. Here is the schedule: (all Saturday afternoons from 1-3pm with the exception of the June class)

June 28th - Wild Flower and Herb Identification Hike. We'll begin in my backyard, going over some the of the herbs I grow and use, then we will caravan up Parley's canyon for the hike up in Lamb's canyon and enjoy a 4 mile hike -12pm, ( note that this class is FREE of charge)

July 12th - Medicinal Oils
We'll be discussing the benefits of solar infused oils and making a healing skin salve, lip balm and ear ache oil. $10

July 19th - Medicinal Honey and Infusions
We'll be making immune boosting elderberry syrup and cough/congestion honey thyme syrup (choose one to take home). We will also be talking about herbs for ailments and the best way to make an infusion (herbal tea). $10

July 26th - Medicinal Tinctures and First Aid Must Have's
We'll be discussing the simple process of making true medicine from herbs and simple things to store in your First Aid kits. You'll make a tincture for your family to take home! $10

August 2nd - We will be having an herbal tea party the last time we get together. Everything that will be served will have some kind of herb in it! This is an excellent "hands on" experience to motivate you to grow and use your herbs. We will also discuss the best ways of harvesting and preserving our herbs. $10

Please RSVP as soon as you can. Spots fill up quickly!

Best,

May's Potluck Luncheon with Dr. Kevin Author of Managing the Gift: Alternative Approaches for Attention Deficit Disorder

The Lab's Parent University  is sponsoring an ADD/ADHD Workshop and Dr. Kevin is the guest speaker. He believes he can give great insight for those looking for solutions and help with ADD/HD children and adults.

Dr. Kevin has the courage to connect ADD/HD with diet!  We are so fortunate to have him here in Utah!  Invite those who have children who struggle with ADD/HD to come to the raw food potluck with you!   THERE IS NO CHARGE, except to bring a raw food dish.

We have a change in day and date this month, May's Potluck Luncheon will be Thursday, May 15th from 11:30 to 1:00 The Coventry 6898 S 2300 E Cottonwood Heights. (Meeting Room in the Basement) Please park on either side of The Coventry, and be sure and bring your recipe with your dish (serve at least 10-12) and bring a serving utensil.  I will provide plates and silverware.

Dr. Kevin from Arizona has consented to speak to our group on the Topic ADD/HD the Gift and Critical Decisions about Diet

Here's what I know about Dr. Kevin. He is author of Managing the Gift: Alternative Approaches for Attention Deficit Disorder introduced the idea of ADD/HD a gift not a disability.

He continues to spread his message around the world as an author, Catalyst, teacher, and speaker. Dr. Kevin has also created daily practices that can help both children and adults to manage their ADD/HD gifts, which he has released as an audio CD companion to his original trend-setting book.
Dr. Kevin information gleaned from the custom-tailored reports also helps caregivers make critical decisions about diet, guidance and other common areas of concern and confusion, while also providing tools and techniques to help ensure the child flourishes amid the unique capabilities and aptitudes identified through a new App and resources.

Unlike other ADHD Apps currently on the market that are merely self-diagnostic or generalized surface-level advice in nature, the pioneering Managing the Gift App goes well beyond with highly detailed, custom-tailored reports that help caregivers understand precisely how to best parent, guide, support, feed and educate each specific child living with ADHD, ADD or HD.  To facilitate this, among other features, the App uniquely offers a proprietary, personalized "Paint Your Child's Portrait" interactive tool that reveals and defines a child's distinct "ADD/HD personality" and, based on the individualized results, provides an expansive custom report that provides caregivers with valuable behavioral insights to recognize, utilize and maximize what Dr. Kevin calls the child's "ADD/HD greatness."

I look forward to seeing you all on Thursday, May 15th!!    Ande

Smart phone app 'Fooducate' could be the beginning of the end of GMO

NaturalNews) One of the biggest obstacles holding people back from eating healthy is easy access to resourceful information, about chemicals in foods, or natural remedies and supplements, and about new choices to make right at the store. If only technology made something for your phone, so you could scan every product's barcode and get a quick, reliable summary of what you're really getting. For instance, is it GMO? Does it contain gluten? Am I allergic to the ingredients? Guess what? The smart phone app already exists, and has been around for a few years, but hardly anyone knows about it. That's all about to change. (http://www.fooducate.com/).

Planet Earth is chock full of natural resources, foods that heal the body, herbs and mushrooms that build immunity, extracts and seed oils that cure diseases, and if no food scientists ever took any of it into a lab and cooked it with chemicals, there would be far less disease and disorder, far less obesity and cancer, and far less of a need need to put a HUGE filter on everything you consider purchasing. (http://store.naturalnews.com/Superfoods_c_4.html)

Not everyone has a smart phone, but millions now do. If you are not one of those fortunate owners of a smart phone, you may want to bring a friend or loved one along with you who has one, and bring them with you to every store where you buy food. You see, most people (besides NaturalNews enthusiasts) do not read articles every day about chemicals in foods and food "agents" that destroy your health. Most people do not do any research at all about what they ingest; they just ask a few questions here and there and maybe look it up on the dreaded WebMD or even worse, they watch The Doctors show or Doctor Oz on TV and believe everything they see and hear. But consider this: if a TV show, or an on-line allopathic reference, or some magazine runs pharmaceutical advertising for their revenue, then they will lie to you about food and nutrition, or they face consequences of losing all their "sponsors" and their "big bucks" from advertising toxic medications. (http://www.naturalnews.com)

You see, those "resources" can only dabble in actual "good health advice" because they want you to believe everything else they print or cover is the truth, but it is not. It's just the opposite. (http://www.seedsofdeception.com/)

Remember the old saying, "Let your fingers do the walking?" In other words, let your fingers do the research, if you don't have the time or energy. The smart phone app will uncover the lies, the food toxins, the food criminals, and expose them, right on the spot! If you read labels at all, you can read the Fooducate app even easier. Now you don't have to try to figure out what all those long crazy words or ingredients mean that you can't even pronounce, and you will know whether they include GMOs, pesticide, insecticide, herbicide, or toxic food coloring, aluminum (heavy metals), gluten, MSG, Aspartame, or other cancer-causing, heart attack-breeding junk that's put in our "natural" food. Even organic foods can be checked for a rating, so you can make a fast judgment call as to whether or not you want the ingredients of a particular product to get past your "body guards" and enter the temple of your soul.

Food For Thought- "The Emotion Code"

Plato said; "The part can never be well unless the whole is well." While eating healthy food is very important letting go of stored old stuff inside ourselves can be just as important. The video below is Dr. Bradley Nelson whose work has impressed me.

Dr. Bradley Nelson, author of "The Emotion Code" shows the power of the Nikken Products and demonstrates the MagCreator and MagBoy can be used to release Trapped Emotions for more health, love and happiness. Includes the story of how Dr. Nelson and his wife Jeannie discovered the "Heart-Wall." Filmed at a special Nikken Wellness Preview on March 15th, 2008. See Dr. Nelson's websites at: BodyCodeSeminars.com (for seminar schedule and information) TheEmotionCode.com (to purchase the book) DrBradleyNelson.com (Blog, and recent radio and tv)

I hope your take a moment to check him out!

Blessings

Dr. Bradley Nelson, author of "The Emotion Code"

Another Reason to Eat Healthy

Would you eat healthier if you were told it would make you feel happier? A recent study in the journal of Social Indicators Research, found that people who eat seven portions of fruit and vegetables a day have the highest mental well-being and are the happiest.

So what could seven servings of fruit and vegetables look like? Breakfast could include one or two servings: a banana, 1/2 grapefruit, an orange, blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, strawberries, melon, or cantaloupe.

A mid-morning snack could include one serving: an apple, pear, grapes, carrots, celery, or red bell peppers.
Lunch could include two or more servings: a green salad with raw or cooked vegetables – broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, beets, red bell peppers, celery, or cucumber. Or vegetable soup, coleslaw, kale salad, beet salad, broccoli cranberry salad, or cauliflower salad.

An afternoon snack could include one serving: same as mid-morning snack. Dinner could include two or more servings: vegetable soup, a salad, cooked greens, roasted vegetables, mixed vegetables, steamed broccoli, asparagus, cauliflower, carrots. spinach, zucchini, bok choy, or string beans.  It’s easy to add fruit and vegetable servings to what you already eat when you plan ahead!

Message from Vicki Talmage

It's Time For Another Raw Luncheon

Hi everyone,
Welcome to the Arctic here in Utah! Hey, I am wondering if anyone is still interested in the luncheons?? Our attendance is down! Don't want have to cancel them it all together, so get the word out to come. I personally enjoy getting together and seeing you all, and knowing there are those of you who are still on the raw path too!
This month Vicki Talmage who has been very popular is coming to speak again!! She is so knowledgeable and amazing! Vicki  has been practicing and teaching the art of living well for the last 30 years. Catalyzed by her own journey to free herself from degenerative disease, she stepped out of the medical profession and into alternative health care at the advice of her colleagues. Vicki studied the Dr. Wood colonics method under Darlene Macey, never intending colon therapy to be her career. Using colonics, Raw Foods, wheatgrass juice, and simple herbs, she healed her body. She has been vegan for 30 years and Raw Vegan for the last 17 years.

If there is a reason you are no longer attending, other than " busy-ness", please call or e-mail me, I would love any suggestions for improving the luncheon, or people to speak at the luncheon!
Thank you, and I look forward to seeing you all! 801-718-3936 andracoccimiglio@hotmail.com
