"Summer Fun" Don't Miss Our June Luncheon

Our guests this month include Dr. Duy D. Tran HealthQuest Chiropractic. And Karen Bayard with her inspired Ice Cream. Karen was kind enough to bring samples of her Ice Cream to share, they are so good! And shes bring more this month and you don't want to miss.

Dr. Duy D. Tran was born in Da Nang, Viet Nam. He and his family lived in Da Nang right in the time when the Vietnam War was taking place. In 1975, when the South lost-out to the communist forces, his family had to flee for their lives. They immigrated to the United States of America and eventually settled in Southern California.

While in California, Dr. Tran, as a child, suffered from asthma in such a way that it was stunting his growth.

A family friend mentioned that Dr. Tran should be seen by a local chiropractor. After seeing the chiropractor a couple times he was able to eliminate his asthma and grow 10 inches in one month. This was amazing!

In 2004, Dr. Tran became the Health Advisor for the popular morning show, Good Things Utah, Channel ABC 4. Dr. Tran also teaches upper-division courses at the University of Utah on such topics as Biomechanics, Kinesiology, and the Physics of Motion. Dr. Tran has expanded, with Clinics across the Salt Lake valley: Murray, South Jordan, and Taylorsville plus is now in Park City.

Karen Bayard is a graduate of Johnson & Wales University. She is passionate about creating delicious meals using a wide variety of ingredients while supporting independent growers.

Drawing from her Caribbean family roots, Karen infuses color, music and aliveness in all she creates! Karen teaches vivacious cooking classes across the USA to individuals and groups wanting to experience joy, vitality and dis-ease free living through food. Food For Thought

THE SLC Film Center is kicking off a new series, FOOD FOR THOUGHT. This four-film series will focus on the food we eat: where it comes from, how it gets to our table, and what the impacts of our eating habits are.

All films are at the Fort Douglas Post Theater on the University of Utah Campus. This series has something for everyone; children, teens, gardeners, sportsmen, environmentalists, conservationists, farmers, nutritionists, and anyone who cares about what they put in their mouth.

The first film, “WHATS ON YOUR PLATE,” debuts this Thursday, May 7th, at 7pm and the Fort Douglas Post Theater - University of Utah campus. WHATS ON YOUR PLATE follows two 12 year old girls from New York City as they explore their place in the food chain. With the camera as their companion, the girls talk to food activists, farmers, new friends, storekeepers, their families, and the viewer, in their quest to understand what’s on all of our plates.

Please pass along this flier to anyone who fits in even one of those categories and anyone else you think would be interested in this important and enlightening series. Healthy World Healthy People

Chuck Juhn did a great job sharing information about the health of the world and our and how they are connected. "All of us who have grown up since the 1940's have been the subjects of a huge, uncontrolled dietary experiment in processed and refined food, among so many other issues we face. A look at our current health industry will tell you that something is seriously amiss, but those are stories for another day.

One thing we know for sure is that most of us are carrying, buried deep in our tissues, chemicals and substances never before seen in the human body. These must be removed from our systems in a way that does not overload our capacity to eliminate them while at the same time removing unhealthy and rebuilding healthy tissue. There is a logical, safe, and effective way to accomplish this using techniques and practices you will learn at OHI." He encouraged everyone to grow a personal garden, and gave some wonderful ideas how we can all start today to make a differnece in the health of the world.

KK Fowlkes
gave away copies of her book "The Gate" The book shares some amanzing selections from the writting of the Ancients of healthy food choices. She also shared information about Wheat Grass and had kits available.
Each kit comes with simple easy to follow growing and harvesting instructions that will have you juicing healthy super-nutritious juice within ten days! To insure the highest possible mineral content and grass yield, we have included Organic Forest Compost and Azomite, a natural mineral additive that insures that your grass contains all of the trace minerals required by the human body for maximum health.

And Cindy had open-pollenated Non-Hybrid seeds available for sale after the meeting. For more information on her Organic Gardening classes ro to order seeds call 435-462-9650

Aprils Lucheon - Restoring not just the body, but the mind and Spirit

This month we are excited to have Chuck Juhn with us. Chuck is a teacher and educator. His been long time advocate of living foods. He's learned Wigmore's approach to diet and health will compare aspects of systems developed by Dr.Wigmore, Dr. Max Gerson, and Dr. Lorraine Day as applied to chronic disease.

Restoring not just the body, but the mind and Spirit is an article that was written by and Chuck Juhn KK Fowlkes. In it they shared insights about living foods. "According to many ecclesiastical leaders, the mind is part of the spirit, not the body and the spirit is composed of a very fine matter.

Regardless, both mind and spirit reside within the body, and are nourished and supported in some way by the body and what we take into it in the form of air, food, impressions, and other energies. We are further affected by what we think and feel, and how we act. That said, life is much more complicated than any of us know, or can imagine. We do know that a great energy animates us and that when this energy is gone, our bodies become lifeless.

Does science agree with this? If we look at Einstein’s theory (E=mc2). The energy content of a body is equal to the mass of the body times the speed of light squared) we understand that everything that exists is composed of light waves. We understand that our actual spirits, this very fine matter that gives life to the human body is actually wave or light energy.

Some schools of thought speak of energy vortices composed of the colors of light." For more amazing insights on Living foods and how they heal your body, come join us on April 28th at Wheelers Farm, or check this website. http://www.wheatgrasskits.com/issue23.htm

And remember to bring a raw food dish to share, and the recipe. See you there!!

Love For Rwandan Orphans

After becoming aware that more than 800,000 Rwandan children have been orphaned by the 1994 genocide and epidemic diseases such as HIV/AIDS and malaria.

As I looked at my own grandchildren I could not imagine so many suffering children. So not to long ago I decided I had to do something and that where I got the idea to host a special dance night as a fund rising event. And together we can reach out to children of Rwanda.

Come join me on May 16th from 7-10
at wheeler farm. As we dance to the music of the 40's and 50's. If you'd like to assist with this benefit contact me at (801) 718-3936 andracoccimiglio@hotmail.com or visit the blog site at the following web address. http://helpingorphansinrwanda.blogspot.com

Agi's Raw Food Tips Make March Luncheon A Success

Kick the Bag Habit!

Did you know?

* Up to 90% of floating debris is plastic, which never biodegrades.
* Plastic trash has entangled, suffocated, or poisoned at least 267 known animal species worldwide.
* A study found an average of three pieces of trash along every foot of streams leading to San Francisco Bay – half of which is plastic.
* 1.37 million plastic bags were removed from coastal areas worldwide on just one day.
We each can make a difference by making a choice to use cloth shopping bags or reusing plastic bags when returning to purchase produce. Creating a healthier body is one thing but making the world less trashed is another. Get involved.

The Bay vs. The Bag

This month for our luncheon we are very fortunate to have Agi Habeller, from "Agi's".She is a wonderful woman, I have heard her speak many times, and never hear the same thing twice.

She was born and raised in Eastern Europe, Hungary. She worked as a pre-school teacher in Hungary and immigrated to U.S. in 1985. She moved to Utah in 1996 and shortly afterwards, she became ill with severe colon problems and endometriosis.

Agi was scheduled for surgery, when she started taking cayenne pepper following a friend's advice. After changing her diet and cleansing her body with wholesome herbs, she became symptom free.

She graduated from Dr. Christoper's School of Natural Healing as a Master Herbalist in 2001, and has been working in the health food field ever since. She owns Agi's Raw Foods since 2003 and sells her delicious raw foods to many of the health food stores in Utah.

Agi will be demonstrating one of her recipes on Tuesday the 24th, 11:15, Wheeler Farm, and we so excited, she will be bringing some of her foods for us to purchase! Agi also has a new recipe book available. This is one luncheon that you won't want to miss. It will be yummy and we look forward to all the creative dishes that each of you bring. Remember to bring a dish to serve 10-15 and a serving utensil, and recipe.

Raw food and cooked food, comparison

Raw Food Diet vs. Cooked Food

Our bodies are designed to partake of raw foods only. Foods that have been cooked, frozen, canned or processed are dead foods, or actually not foods at all. Cooked foods are poisons to us. Now I realize that the average American has not reached the point where he will accept or under stand this but I say it anyway: My own true definition of a food is "a substance that nourishes or fuels the body with life-giving force (i.e. enzymes, electric or vital energy, chlorophyll, minerals, vitamins, etc.), thereby strengthening, energizing and building it, without depleting or causing any hindrance to its functions.

Food is not simply something one puts in the mouth, chews, and swallows. Food should not deplete or rob the body of its needed essence or harm it in any way. Dead or dying foods take an enormous toll on the body. Consider these facts about cooked, frozen, canned, and processed foods:

* they have been depleted of most vitamins
* they create toxins
* they drain the life force from the body
* they harm the constructive bacteria in the intestines
* they produce harmful bacteria in the intestines
* they poison the bloodstream, thereby feeding disease
* they clog the body's lymph system
* they drain the body's enzyme reserve
* they overwork and clog the elimination systems
* they strain the glandular system, especially the endocrine glands
* they overwork the digestive system
* they cause stress, congestion and mucus
* they produce the ideal environment for parasites
* they lower our consciousness, our vibration

The Pottengers Cat Study parallels similar human studies. The basic summary is: cooked food is poison to every animal on earth, and humans are not excluded. Notice that God never issues stoves when He creates people. Cooked food is unnatural (maybe "normal" but not natural) to the human body however, in our society there are even more unnatural substances that cause worse damage than cooked foods.

Important Fact

If everyone in our country went on a raw food diet, what do you think would happen? Most people would get very sick. Some might even die. Most people cannot handle raw foods because their digestive tracts have already been ruined. People need to rebuild the digestive system, but before they can do that they must cleanse the digestive system. This includes cleansing and rebuilding the liver, the pancreas, and the stomach. They must also build up their alkaline reserve. If we really want to be healthy, strong, and 100% free of disease, we all need to eat raw food that has all its natural ingredients, which is usually found only in food organically grown in naturally balanced soil. Remember this: Only healthy people can live entirely on a raw food diet.

Other causes of disease are Root Canals and Silver Fillings, which are called amalgams . They contain 52% mercury, one of the most deadly poisons known. (See "Some Hidden Causes Of Disease" in Chapter 19.)

Example: Approximately 13 to 16% or 1 out of 6 Americans are now sterile. This condition is getting worse every year, not better.

[4] Dr. Bernard Jensen: Iridology Volume 2, pg. 250

[5] We seldom hear about parasite problems in the U.S. Yet even ten years ago it was recorded in medical journals that at least 55 million American children have serious parasitic infections. Parasites kill more people than any other disease in the world. Here is another flaw in the medical religion: they fail to examine for parasites, and they seldom know what to do about it when they do find them.

It is common that people who drink pasteurized milk also have respiratory, ear, mucus, and calcium problems. It is known that the number one cause of rheumatic fever (heart) is caused by too much pasteurized milk and other dairy products.

Are you aware of how hard the government has tried to initiate the use of irradiation to bombard our food with nuclear radiation? Do you know why irradiation helps to preserve food longer? It destroys the living enzymes and bacteria. This would cause another major leap towards more sickness and disease. The question has been asked, “If this study is true, then how is it that all the cats people have as pets are still alive?” The answer may be, love. When my friend and I traveled 5 states foraging wild herbs for our meals, our strength, endurance and mental clarity increased very noticeably within 2 weeks. Neither of us had ever felt better.
